Default USS Kelvin

Itīs been quite a while since I modelled a trek ship, but with the new movie coming I thought Iīd give it a go. Unfortunately, the new Enterprise is just too ugly (at least for now, maybe I get used to it, but I doubt it), so I chose the Kelvin. Thatīs quite a nice design, just not that much pictures of her out there yet. But I downloaded everything I could get and grabbed some pics from the trailer, so I hope it will hold up for some time.

Hereīre the WIP pics. Upper saucer and upper secondary hull are almost done, still lots of work to do...

I actually like the Kelvin. I think if they'd used more of this design for the prefit, I'd have been a lot happier.

The entire ship has very "clean" looking appearance, I like it! Also it would be cool to see it with the name and registry numbers with the red out lines.

Update - did some finishing touches on the secondary hull and the bolts on the saucer plates. The lower pylon is also done, and the basic shape of the warp nacelle.

More tomorrow...

Very nice. What software are you using? Maybe its just me but the bridge really reminds me of the Jupiter 2. I wonder if the designers did that as a little retro nod.

Made good progress today - the warp nacelle is almost done, only some minor parts and panels are missing. Will do those tomorrow, as well as the saucer underside (just a temp at the moment). So modelling should be done by tomorrow.... :thumb:

Fantastic work!! This is definitely one funky design, while keeping very recognizable elements from the first feature film designs, the configuration does kinda mess with your head. I gotta say I do like it more than the new Enterprise, (that one may still grow on me). It reminds me of the Franz Joseph destroyer/scout designs from about 35 years ago... which I do like. Impressive work bro!!!!

The Kelvin is done by now, so I made a few wallpapers over the last days - and here are the results.

Hope you like them...
