The "Fast Fortress" Scratch

I saw this in my kids room and decided that it would make an interesting build. I'm sure I have a B-17 and I'll have to scratchbuild the rest. Should be interesting. I'll keep you posted.

PS I have posted a picture of all the WIP's I have have so it should come as no suprise that I'm starting another, but rest assured that I do finish my work. It just takes me longer than most.

That's neat! Have you ever seen the Frank Miller/Geoff Darrow comic series "Hard Boiled"?

It reminds me a bit of some of the vehicle designs.

Turns out I did buy a B-17 years ago and had it tucked away in storage, the sad part is that it is an Academy model and to me, Academy is synonomis with detail.

Now before I rip into this, do I take photos to add to the Kit Scan section? I'm not sure if that is only for known kits that have been used in kitbashes to the stars. I don't know if this particular model has ever been used for that.

It never hurts to have more kitscans!! New parts are found that way and possibly another kit is added to the kitlists as a result. so snap away and post without fear

So does this matchup with your request elsewhere for six matching sets of rims and tires?

I read that as six full sets- or 24!
Six is much more doable! LOL

Yes it does match up to the request and No I do not need 24 wheels and tires. I was called each combination of wheel/tire a set and I only need six. I didn't know what else to call them. But I'm sure I can find a use for 24 wheel and tire combinations. Ooo, that's what I'll call them, combinations.

This is an exercise in madness. The intent is to take a perfectly good Academy B-17G and butcher it to create a replica of the Hotwheels "Fast Fortress" diecast car.

Below you see the butcher job of the B-17 in progress. I have ordered an Ertl Model A Roadster to use a starting point for the chassis. I am still working out how to create the rear most fenders but I’m leaning towards steel sheeting. Most of the body work will be done using Milliput (which I’m still learning to use).

I have also decided to light it and will be posting a picture (I’m also learning how to use Photoshop) of the desired paint scheme. We’ll see.
