Another GREAT design by Brian Larsen that reminds me of the more bulky fighters of the Vietnam War era... like the F4 Phantom! This is another piece I would love to see made in 1/24 scale!
This render by Andre March gives me chills! |

Hello REL. Come in REL. I think I see a future project for you. I believe you can consider at least 2 for Kurt and myself. You know you want to create this. Just finish that D, then the Slave, then get started on this heavy viper. I'll be waiting....

Two things I don't like about this Viper.
1. The name. 'Heavy' Viper? Lacks originality. I'd call it a Battle-Shark or something like that...LOL! 2. Although I like the canopy design ( very T-65-ish ), I don't like how low it sits and how far forward. Elevate that pilot and give him some visibility. Without a lot of electronic pilot aids, how the hell is he gonna see in a tactical situation? Of course, in a space combat environment, that might be a moot point because of distances and speeds being beyond the Mk I eyeball's ability to detect and track anyway. I'd love to see this realized as a physical piece though.

It looks like it could really take a beating and still
keep dishin' it out! It would make a nice companion piece for a 1/2500 Larsen Re-imagined Battlestar. |

Bob... I just used "heavy" as my own description... it is not Brian's term. It just seemed appropriate. mech... I pulled these from Larsen's site, which is now located on my other laptop. I will try to find it again and post the link here. I believe he stated mission specs, but can't remember them. Let me see about the link. |

I just got done looking at Larsen's Colonial designs.
I wonder what his Cylon designs would look like? They would have to be some truly evil lookin',EXTREMELY heavily armed machines to pick a fight with his Colonial designs. Yeah...I'd like to see a kit of it too.Something in 1/32 perhaps? Last edited by U-boater; 04-17-2008 at 09:51 PM. |

I like it. The sunken canopy looks like it came of an X-Wing, but I guess it just adds to the bull-dog look. Sure does look like it can take a beating!

Wow. I gotta say, I think that is the coolest Viper design I've ever seen - EVER.
Kurt, I agree - very Viet-Nam-Era-Esque (can I say that? |

Wow! Great participation guys! And thanks for the kind words!
Indeed... it is VERY F-4 like... in my opinion as well! I would VERY much love to see this beastie created, but I would wish it in 1/24 scale to match the rest of the birds in the collection. Can you imagine how BIG that would be?!!! DUUUUUDE!!! LOLOLOLOLOL Bob.. no worries...LOLOLOL... I just couldn't think of any proper terminology for the beastie! LOLOLOLOL |
