Thanks for looking!

The long-awaited custom end caps and new bussard domes have arrived. Now begins the process of engineering the rotating inner domes and faceted gem disk that will hopefully create some interesting light refraction in front of the twin rotating (sequenced) LED rings in each bussard. The outer domes will be frosted and tinted orange from the inside while the inner frosted domes will have a blade pattern airbrushed in Tamiya smoke.

The main sensor dish was airbrushed in Alclads as well as the ringed housing behind it. A scratched internal detail ring will have to be fabricated to hide the ugliness inside the first ring wall.

With the arriving of bussard domes and end caps, things have picked back up with lightning speed at Tycho. The main sensor shroud had a strange texture of mold release marks on the back wall of the first outer ring. It was clearly visible from the front angle as the dish hid the other mark in the inner rings. So, I had in mind an idea to build a quick detail piece to drop inside. I cut a quick ring out of .030 and several segments of right-angle Evergreen to create this rosette and painted it dark gray.

The aft cap nozzles were airbrushed Alclad Dark Aluminum and Duraluminum and the shroud was painted Neutral Gray.

The outer bussard domes were frosted and painted Tamiya clear orange on the inside. The inner domes were masked and painted with Alclad Dura.

Hood is 97% done coming out of this weekend, in good shape for her departure to WF17. Following several coats of clear, both gloss and flat and polishing her hull with 3200, some minor tweaks and the awaiting arrival of her impulse crystal housings remain.

This is a thing of beauty. So many nice things about this. I especially like the little light at the end of the deflector spike.

Simply beautiful! Those behind STD should be taking notes on ship design!

The Hood is too advanced for that show, but they should've hired him to design the show's hero ships.

Which begs the next logical question: will Admiral Buck design any pre-TOS ships...? Ent or Discovery era will likely be fine with us.

Pre-TOS is an intriguing thought and I look forward to what Discovery has in mind. Until then, I'll let them hammer out some design parameters. I have plenty of TOS through pre-TNG years to play in with enough cues to develop many ships.

Here's the section of secondary hull that was removed from H as part of her refitting. It's hard to believe the hull used to be 1.75" longer.

Hood's number two shuttlecraft, the Broadsword.
