Awesome work, especially with that ghosted stripe!

Thank you much, sir!

And as to colors, I'm calling main paint done! Yes, I need to do the recognition lights, but all else looks good. The phaser banks are back on and painted, and now I'm just waiting for things to dry before glossing it.

On intercept with the Fighting Falcon. Somehow she slipped free from her yard. Heads will roll!

Impulse engines were done with a Molotow silver pen and then over coated with clear red. Some masking and German Gray followed.

And from on high.

I still need to make the new NCC registry and name, then apply the kit decals and windows, and there are some more coming from PNT. Also the dish...

Getting close though!

Model on!

Smooth from a distance! Like any model, there are those spots...

I cut the domes away from the plugs, and it went a little rougher than how it played out in my head. Good thing the nacelles have little lips at the front to cover that.

Once off, they were cleaned and glued on with clear Gator Grip.

Then this morning they were masked and painted. With the Falcon I think I'll mix in a little solid red to make them a little more opaque, and to help cover the distortions in the plastic. If it looks better that way, I'll go back and do these again.

But hey, there's nothing like getting those red bussard domes on a Star Trek ship!

Those are the last pics before decals!

Last pics of the model anyway...

I finally got the name and registry made up in Inkspace. Watched a few tutorials to get the curve and spacing, but everything is measuring up now. The letters/numbers are a little thicker than the kit ones, but I can hardly tell unless they are held up side by side.

I'll be printing them up tonight and spraying them clear, and putting on the other decals while those dry.

First decals on! Figured I'd start with the nacelles since they are still removable. The stripes are the kit decals, with the registry being home made.
Had a problem at first, and I was glad I made more copies of those. The decal paper I used curled badly in reaction to Micro Set and had to be removed. The next were straight water and lightly pressed down with a finger until they stuck to the curve. But they are on and good now!
