Not familiar with the source material. So is this intended to be in the same vein as GalaxyQuest, a spoof of SciFi/SuperHero movies?

It's all Marvel - no spoof or parody. IIRC, Guardians was more light hearted than some, but still a serious enough work. Sort of The Avengers, but for the galaxy.

I'm highly intrigued. When watching on YouTube, go to the big screen and pause to catch the description and rap sheet for each of those characters.
