Default USS Saber NCC-1873 1/1000

Calling her DUN!

Got the last matte coat on and glossed the marker lights, nacelles and impulse engines. Also finished a little paint repair, as somehow an edge of the saucer got dinged. Paint is mostly Model Master, and the decals are a mix of the kits and homemade for the name and registry.

It was kind of hit/miss with the decals. The kit ones worked great for the most part, and (where I didn't mess up) have almost disappeared under the final clear coats. Had about the same level of success with the ones I made, though I had to replace a few. The NCC-1873 on the saucer had to be redone, as the clear between the letters wrinkled right up. I ended up piecing out the replacement and putting them on one at a time. There is some silvering, but only from certain angles.

The window decals are mostly good to and, looking at the final result, any complaints I have are self-inflicted.

For pics, I really need to make a small photo-booth, but until then here you go!

And looking at that last pic, I see the last window decal, port side on the back of the superstructure, actually blew off! Gotta replace that...

This is only the second Star Trek model that I've finished in over twenty years! One still needing to be finished is my Lagrange class USS Fearless, patterned on one of the Admiral's Miranda variant designs. And now I have plans in my head for more!

But, next to be completed is the USS Falcon. For that, I'm thinking about doing something else with the bussards. I have the bucks left over from this build, and I think I'll get some clear resin and make replacements. I'll drill a hole into the back, paint it solid red and then use clear red on the outside. See how that goes...

Very well done!

I love the black “grab areas” on the sides of the upper saucer...

Super clean build there Mr. T! I'd say you've done Tycho Yard proud. Can't wait to see Falcon back in dry dock.

Thanks a lot Admiral! High praise indeed.

A few final pictures to round this build out. I stopped at the store and bought a large sheet of black card stock and snapped some new pictures.

And a comparison shot with the 1/1000 Defiant.

And that's that. Model on!
