I was able to get the saucer glued together. I also glued the photon torpedo launcher to the aft end of the sponsons. I was worried than the resin would be a little flimsy and could warp. (that is why I added the brass rod) I was surprised at how strong the parts are, and the photon launcher actually made the structure stronger.

Now I have some seams to fill...

Since I was painting the Nova I sprayed a coat of paint onto the Akira.

Nice. But check to make sure that the starboard engine isn't hanging lower than the port. Could just be the photo angle.

I haven't done to much work on the Akira because my Dad was in the hospital. But he is out of the hospital and I actually got some work done on the Akira this weekend. Nothing too crazy, but it is a step in the right direction. I painted the "armor" plates with Dark Ghost Gray and then I over sprayed the panels with the base color Light Grey.

Hope your dad is OK.

Great job on the Akira, too. (I have the same kit calling to me in the stack...)

Thanks guys. My dad has 3 different types of leukemia. Over the holidays he was given chemotherapy and it worked. His Leukemia is now in remission, but he will need a bone marrow transplant. The search for a donor has begun. So we still have a long way to go. I also appreciate the kind words about the model!

I continued work on the Akira by working on the detail painting. I REALLY like how the model is looking!

I had a 3 day weekend so I put it to good use. The model was gloss coated and I applied all of the decals!

The decals came with the kit, except the registry and name. I'm happy with how they went on. I had a few tears, but over all nothing too bad. I really can't wait to see how this thing looks completed and all lit up!

Whole Lotta Decals! I really like the placement and design of the hanger doors. I hadn't noticed that before. Looking pretty
