Haven't got the decals on yet since I'm not done yet with the painting to do the decals yet. The undercoat is actually Light gray I was using for the canopy frame.

If you hadn't noticed I actually initialed my Cobra with my initials MBM.

I thought there was something a little odd
about the spray pattern below the left side
of the canopy.

My question about the decals was that if you're
using the original decals, are they in fact usable?
Or..have you coated them with a liquid decal film?

I'll be using them once I straighten the sheet out by placing them in a book. I'll either try Testors decal film spray or Testors Gloss coat to preserve them. All thats left is to pray that these 41 year old decals will hold together.

Might I recommend MICRO-SCALE Liquid Decal Film?

I've used it with great results on some of the most ancient decals
without them shattering.

Keep the photos coming.Looks great so far!

Actually I took more pictures today and got the last bit of painting of the tail done and the turret as well. Just didn't want to rush it too much yesterday. Just let the paint cure a couple days then I can go and put some Testors Gloss coat on to seal the paint.

Well got the last bit of painting done on the tail section that I left unpainted the last time. Just got to let it sit to cure a couple days then I'll go over it with the Testors Gloss Coat to seal the paint in.

Now should I paint the anti collision lights and formation lights before or after I do the gloss coat?

Personally,I'd say go ahead and paint 'em
before the gloss coat.

You can always do a little gloss touch up after you've
applied the final finish.

Really cool piece of work ya' got there Mikey!

well painted the lights silver for now and removed the mask so I could clean up any tape marks on the glass. I cleaned the glass and did another coat of Future on the glass and will re-mask before doing the clear coat.

Well I got back to work on the Cobra after someone convinced me to replace the canopy with a Werners Wings canopy.

Also had to repaint it afterwards to blend the canopy into the rest of the fuselage.

Oh BTW the main rotor is painted Olive Drab like on the real aircraft. I will be painting the topside black. Gloss coating will commence tommorow hopefully I can get it to cure before I can glosscoat the bottom.

I agree!

I like how your build is coming together.
I think the vacuform canopy is a great idea,it'd
be a shame to have all the cockpit detail obscured
by an overly thick canopy.

Looking forward to more photos!
