Whoever comes (or does not)...we are going to make a big effort to see it. To be so near that cool place and not try would be a fucking crime. XB-70 is all I need to say..................... What a weekend to remember that would be. Three big R.I hits in three days, can't beat it.

And---this is super important----if you're heart is set on the XB-70 (like mine was on the X15), you need to get there when they open at 9am. As soon as you enter the Museum, find the ticket counter for the X-Plane Annex and get tickets. Thanks to 9/11 and our Terrorist friends, they only let controlled crowds of 125 people go over at a time.
If you wait too long, to get tickets you may not get in...

Typically, we go there first----visit time is limited to 90 minutes, then they seek you out and load you back on the bus.

Make no mistake about it----it is the best part of the museum. You'll have full access to the X-planes, as they're not roped off like most in the main museum. At one point, I was laying on my back with my camera taking reference pics inside the nose gear of my beloved X15.

The Curators were really cool and very helpful-----they just don't like anyone touching the hardware. I was very lucky---the other side of the Annex displays all the Presidential Planes, and every single person on our buses went in there leaving me alone on the X-Plane side.

It was as religious experience....

And the Valkyrie is gorgeous---and HUGE!

Unrealistically so.

Last time I went the XB-70 was still in the main building. I was awed just standing directly under the engines and realizing how high above me they still were!

Although my favorite is still the B-36.

And I was suprised how graceful the B-1 bomber was as well.
