Best scriber is the one from Squadron. It actually cuts a channel and leaves no raised edges.

Failing that, use the back side of a used #11 blade. Drag it lightly and never apply pressure. Let the weight of the tool do the actual work. It takes longer, but rocks!

I have a really good article from Fine Scale Modeler (Nov 07). I use the techniques shown there and it's been working for me. The real trick is how to clean up the scribed lines (especially in styrene) after they've been scribed using a curved xacto blade. This gets rid of the raised groove on either side of the scribe. I'll see if I can scan the article at work and post it up. It has a lot of how-to pictures.

I'm still trying to figure out the other side due to the room that the kit gives you. In fact, I've already made changes to it tonight while trying to piece the kit together. I've ruled out anything that radioshack offers LED wise (big shock)! Give me a few days and I will be able to walk everybody though it.

I got my LED's at radioshack and they work fine.. well except for the one that burnt out. But I think that was the crappy soldering job I did.

I started to do lighting but I've gotten to far along to start over now. I'll light the P-47 I'm starting on instead.

It's that the radio shack LEDs aren't that bright compared to some other ones that I have.

I miss the old Radio Shack. All the parts you could ever need and kits of all sorts of neat-o electronic gadgets. I still have my Multimeter kit I assembled and it still works.

Now you get a blank stare if you ask for a 555 timer chip. "Does Frito-lay make that?"

Yeah the one in the mall is like that but the one over by target is actually pretty good here. They seem to know their stuff.

Re: Scriber. I meant the Bare Metal Foil one. The Squadron one's a bit hinky.
