Well PakRatJR i don't know if i did it right but after masking off the stipes i took some salt and add a very little amount of water to where it looks like mush and then dap it on with a old small brush and then let dry for a few min's and then painted it and after the paint drys i tool a clean paint brush and removed the salt mix to give the stipes that chip paint effect.

Like i said i don't know if i did it right but it seem to work.

I, too, am wanting to try the 'salt trick'. But I gotta admit, I do enjoy placing decals. So I am uncertain which I'll do yet.

Beautiful build and paint Daytona. Very nice work.

Beautiful work from you, too, Rob. Great looking engine!

Yup.....I do try to do the paint thing once in a while, depending on the project, but I'm still more of a decal person. They usually look descent enough for my tastes..

My thoughts exactly 79

Speeking of decals...
(I still haven't dullcoated yet )

Because of the flash, it looks ALLOT whiter in the pic than it is.

Edit to change the pic.
Needed to clean up the bench a bit.

The salt trick on the stripes really looks good! I've never tried it, but I think I'll use it on my build. If I ever get to start it
