Default My Raise the Titanic Film Replica Model

Hello everyone.

New member, so please be gentle with me. As my first posting here I wanted to share with you my 2003 build; Titanic but unlike you have seen here before. Titanic is represented here as she appears in the 1980 ITC movie Raise the Titanic. I have been interested in Titanic since the mid 1970s. Raise the Titanic was my first cinematic movie. Although heavily criticized by critics, personally I like the movie and these days it takes me back to not only my childhood but the innocent days prior to the discovery of the real wreck.

The base for the model is the 1998 retooled Minicraft 1:350th Titanic kit. Over a period of months I scratch built and altered the model to represent the liner as she appears in the 1980 movie. I used 'TomsModelworks' PE sets where needed. reference and research come from my years and background in Titanica. I have researched Titanic for over 30 years which includes authoring works, working with television, radio and many other authors and collectors. My recent involvement had me working with Channel4, National Geographic and the BBC. Regarding Raise the Titanic, I supplied the special features and authored the sleeve notes for the 2007 'Network' UK dvd release of the movie.

The model can be displayed either on a standard stand or with a artificial seabed with the wreck pitched to one side and the broken funnel near-by.

The model was featured in a spotlight section of Peter Davies-Garners book Titanic And Her Sisters Olympic & Britannic.

Apart from Titanic, my other interest is science fiction. Mainly the works of H.G.Wells. And a huge HUGE fan of The War of the Worlds.

Hope some will find my model of interest and I look forward to chatting with you.

Kind regards
