Thanks, guys. I'm really bumming about missing The Show this year. :(

Being a Saints fan, I just say, "Next year! Yeah, next year!" :D

An extra point of interest for us that weekend.

Wright Patterson AFB is 150 miles away..........

Sunday is on our mind. Would love to see that place.

Friday, shooting, Saturday models, Sunday, bombers.

:D:D:D

Wri-Pat - VERY much worth the effort!

Whoever comes (or does not)...we are going to make a big effort to see it. To be so near that cool place and not try would be a fucking crime. XB-70 is all I need to say..................... What a weekend to remember that would be. Three big R.I hits in three days, can't beat it.

I'll most likely have an XB-70 sized hangover that day, so I doubt I'll make the trip.

You will need a FULL DAY to truly enjoy WPAFM.

Just sayin'.

And---this is super important----if you're heart is set on the XB-70 (like mine was on the X15), you need to get there when they open at 9am. As soon as you enter the Museum, find the ticket counter for the X-Plane Annex and get tickets. Thanks to 9/11 and our Terrorist friends, they only let controlled crowds of 125 people go over at a time.
If you wait too long, to get tickets you may not get in...

Typically, we go there first----visit time is limited to 90 minutes, then they seek you out and load you back on the bus.:(

Make no mistake about it----it is the best part of the museum. You'll have full access to the X-planes, as they're not roped off like most in the main museum. At one point, I was laying on my back with my camera taking reference pics inside the nose gear of my beloved X15.:D

The Curators were really cool and very helpful-----they just don't like anyone touching the hardware. ;) I was very lucky---the other side of the Annex displays all the Presidential Planes, and every single person on our buses went in there leaving me alone on the X-Plane side.

It was as religious experience....:D :notworthy:

And the Valkyrie is gorgeous---and HUGE! :p

Unrealistically so.

Last time I went the XB-70 was still in the main building. I was awed just standing directly under the engines and realizing how high above me they still were!

Although my favorite is still the B-36. ;)

Oooh yeah, the B36 is badass.:notworthy:

And I was suprised how graceful the B-1 bomber was as well. :)
