My Grandfather served in India during WWII and was a mechanic at an airfield there. He is 89, his health is fading, and he asked me to build him a model. I found some photos online of C-47's in that theatre and went to it to give it an accurate scheme (not the typical European invasion stripes). The only thing I'm unhappy with is the cockpit glass. It was so warped, I couldn't get a good fit. Here it is!

Wow, you've even got some pitting in the leading edge of the props. Very nice detail and paint job!

If he was anywhere near an airfield in that time frame, I'm sure he's seen a Skytrain or two, and he's gonna love this one!

Great model, but one tiny nitpick...the fuselage insignia are upside down. The single point should face up. Other than that (and I will admit, it's me being pedantic :D), that is one fine-looking Dakota, er, Skytrain!

Thanks all! My Grandfather was the first point out the upside down decal! Ooops! I just finished a B-58 Hustler and was able to catch myself before repeating the same mistake!

Northern Wolf- It's an Italeri! Went together fairly well!

Got a question for you. How come you have what look like duel carb intakes?
