A birthday pressie for an ex-tankie, my brother to be exact as he's 50 this year and was a driver/gunner on British Army Chieftains Mk V's for 5 years.
Not fully done as base plinth and case cover to sort but close enough for the show and tell thing.

Tamiya 1/35th kit with Accurate Armour upgrade sets. Base is 12mm MDF, epoxy putty landscaping with railway modeling grass mat and a few other bits thrown in.

Enamel and acrylic paints both airbrush and old style manual brush :)

Now look what you did to the lawn! Didn't your momma teach you not to drive on the grass?! :)

Looks great!

Very nice, I love how the treads picked up the grass like that, nice effect. The Chieftain is one cool looking tank.

So THAT's what a Chieftain looks like if you don't use it for a laser tank!!!!

Very nice. I've got many, many of the Chieftain kit in many many different scales and it's nice to see the kit completed as it should be.

Beautiful work thus far, Ian. I'm sure your sib'll be quite happy with his gift.

Well, unless he's not. :(

Very nice!
Did you do the markings of his specific unit?

Thankies all!
Aye the Chiefy is a good looking lump of AFV. My Bro still calls it his baby, though not everyone has a 56 ton baby but who am i to judge :)

SJ, not really a specific unit as such, tried to find markings relevant to Badger Sqn. 2nd Royal Tank Regiment but i just could not find out what his Chiefy was called. Naming of tanks is a tradition in 2 RTR squadrons and lacking a lot of info i just went with the kit markings.
Had to lay off asking him about it, he's more than swift enough to recognise a dig for info so didn't want to give the game away in that area.

Griff, he'll be happy with it. Almost anything Chieftain is ok with that fella believe me!

Eagle-1, :D it do make a change to just build it proper don't it.

uss_columbia, nope she didn't and it shows i'm afraid
