So far all I have to share is some tests I am running on a spare primary hull.

The base coat is MM's light gray. I plan on mixing the secondary color consisting of neutral gray with a touch of copper. (Thanks for the tip Trekmodeler)

Copper?????
Well, the first contact paint scheme has a secondary color of gray that appears to have a bit of tan mixed in. From what I have been told, copper was used to create the custom color. So the color I am going for is a lightly darker color than the base coat (light gray with a touch of neutral gray) and then a touch of copper to give it a tan shade.

I am building her with a first contact paint scheme. The only mods I will do is a corrected deflector trench and corrected pylons.

I am grateful that I have this kit, but it's been stashed away cuz no way in hell do I have the skill and courage to attempt it yet :p
This is a great start and I admire your skill and patience so much. Especially at this scale. Looks like the right direction and I'm excited by every piece of tape you are laying on. This is gonna rock :headbang: Keep up the great work sir :D

I am now officially cross eyed ;)
The deflector is quite inaccurate. Too bad no one made a more accurate dish.

Thanks Jack :)
I did try my hand at masking this part. That's what made me cross eyed. When that did not work, I simply tried my hand at painting it. Well, the part is too small dang it. That did not work. So I decided to strip it. I dipped a cue tip in some paint thinner and began to rub it over the surface of the dish. To my surprise (and delight) the cue tip removed the paint from the surface but did not touch the paint in the channels.
Although this is not accurate, I liked the look and so did the client. So it's staying as is!!

Here's a link to the ram scoops in action.
The lighting kit was created by Trekmodeler. I have 2 of his refit lighting kits as well that will be installed into my next 2 refit builds. His lighting kits are fantastic in my opinion.
Enjoy.

I used a clear red filter and dipped a small sponge in some black paint and lightly dabbed on the effect.

Thanks for your answer. Also, how did you create the blue warp grille glow. Are you using LEDs or a Lightsheet-type material?

The warp grill glow is created with LED's.

Very cool, but those random panels look too large in scale for the size of the ship.
Nice lines! Looking forward to this!

They are very much indeed out of scale. If I were to cut each individual aztec out with strip tape, this project would last me years :)
These shapes were provided by Aztec Dummies. I believe his cutter could not cut smaller without problems..
