This is an Icons X-wing.I restored the fuselage and added some details
on the engines.Maybe the lighting was a little too strong.I'll take more pictures with decent background.

Thank you superjedi!
I saw your falcon.I prefer 5 foot version like yours.
Building 5 foot falcon in32 inches size is great idea.
Off corse your building skill is great! and painting too!

I love this picture (http://photos.yahoo.co.jp/ph/model_manjp/vwp?.dir=/f80c&.dnm=32e1.jpg&.src=ph&.view=t&.hires=t).
The Icons models were fairly rough, being three or four generations removed from the original hero casting that served as the master for the pyro castings that spawned the Icons replica. But that lineage is clearly here, and this is an amazing refit. The model looks much improved, and the paint work is gorgeous, frankly.
Kaoru, it's obvious you put in a lot of effort on the fuselage, but you were careful not to eliminate the organic nature of the original hand-sculpted master. That pedigree is still obvious, and it's what sells this particular build-up as one of the most accurate X-Wing replicas I've ever seen.
Beautiful...

Lee,
Thank you! You've been encouraging me since I posted on starship modeler.I'm so happy!
Isel,
Thank you! I explain briefly. Please let me know if it's not enough.
The methods I use are quite simple.Washing and over spray.
And then pastel and airbrush.I don't think ILM used pastel but it's
easy to control and gets good result. If you made a mistake,
you can wash with water.I even use pastel when I do washing.
kev,
Thank you for your compliment!
If I'm asked who is the person who contributed to SS X-wing in the world,I would say you!
The fuselage was kind of nightmare.LOL But I think it's worth it.
I added about 5mm extended nose.
But there is different on R2 strip. It looks the same as the real R2 strip
but airfix Messerschmitt part was changed.Maybe it was restored.
Beautiful build and paint job, this one caught my eye a long time ago.

Bob,
Oh yes, pastels are very popular in Japan.

Kaoru, really?
I used pastels because they work and if Japanese modelmakers agree, then I take that as a compliment!
Pastels do what airbrushing alone can't and airbrushing does what pastels can't. I like to use both...
And you've used these techniques to wonderful effect...

It's been cool to see what could have been. Personally, I'm glad they changed them to red, I think it looks better and I don't think I'm being buyast to the familiarity of it either.
