4/24/08...UPDATE

OK... EVERY photo AFTER the TMP Opening 3 K'Tinga shot is NEW!! As suggested, I kept the old photos as is, but changed the old photos zip file to reflect "old", and also added a new zip file for the 'new' photos. I hope you enjoy them?

Thanks for looking...again. :D

Sorry for taking so long to post these. It has been a mad house here lately. :)

Richard has outdone himself again! The 29 year wait is over with the delivery of the wonderful build of the TMP K'Tinga! :D

The tiny, fine detail ins AMAZING. It is no wonder he is sought by both the Industry, and us Collectors as well!

I photographed this beastie in many different light schemes. Richard has a signature in his painting with a slight metallic finish which make it BEAUTIFUL to look at in person, but VERY difficult to photograph. Well, at least for me! LOLOLOL

There is one photo that I did a color adjustment on. It will be obvious which one, but I wanted to leave in in because I very much enjoyed the aggressive positioning. ;)

I have yet to veiew this thread, but I am certain I will find some amazing renders from just the single shot I provided. I am excited to see what has come of it.

Again, feel free to do with what you wish of my photos. ;)

I wish to thank Richard for delivering a 29 year dream of mine! You are AWESOME my friend! :D

That is a SWEET render RKW!!! :D Thanks!

A Klingon Cruiser in the new flick? That would be interesting! :D

Thanks for all the compliment you guys! I know Richard has earned them! And I always love to see my photos 'rendered' like on-screen grabs! :D

I am not certain as to when Richard will be opening the order floodgates for this beastie. I believe he is getting ready new molds for mass production.

I DO KNOW that whomever gets one, or more from him WILL BE VERY LUCKY!!! Richard's items are usually done in limited runs. That topped with the quality he offers? There is no losing here... unless one forgets to order one, that is! LOLOLOL It is WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!... and MORE!!!

First time posting here, but I couldn't help 'borrowing' a few of those wonderful blue-screen k'tinga's and doing some manipulation of my own.

First one, with regard to Rider's submission, was a dupe of the screengrab giving us our first glimpse of the three Klingon cruisers.

Here's the screen:

Old vs. new (http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/gg104/Loneknight776/Works/2008-01-31_KG_KTINGA_SET1-000B.gif)

The last one I decided to screw around with a bit. I found it a little difficult to make the V'ger "hadoken" ball, so bear with me...
Screwed Klingons (http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/gg104/Loneknight776/Works/TINGA_SET1-021Bcopy.jpg)

That's it for now. I gotta say, I loved watching Rich's build-ups over at starship modeler. I had to follow him over here because I couldn't wait to see what he was doing with his Enterprise-D. Now that I think about it, I hardly go over there anymore....:D

Thank you for sharing your renderings! :D I love em'!

Don't ever worry about 'borrowing' the photos I post. ;) My Blue Screen photographs may be used however you like. :) It all done in FUN! ;) ;D I am not one to post what I don't wish people to have or use. :)

I see that I have some blue screen reflection in some of the shots. With that metallic paint, and the low lighting, I need to figure out how to counter that effect. The blue screen trials continue! LOLOLOLOLOLOL

Loneknight... I would very much enjoy viewing more of your work as well! Richard will be hand delivering the "D" to me. When he does, I will try to get a photo of him with his creation. Plus, it will be a blast taking photos of the beastie D with him there as well! I know we are going to have a great time when he arrives. I look forward to that. :) I also look forward to seeing what you guys do with all the photos. It makes it truly fun to view these creations as if they were actually in the movies. :)

Fellas, THAT WOULD be a great idea! :D

Alas, the 1/350 1701-A or Refit has eluded my build schedule so far. :( I keep looking at the PL kit sitting here and promising myself to get the beastie built soon.... and then just not doing it in light of other builds that are being done.

The Refit is one of my favorite designs that I came to love when the WOK came out. I was one of the fans that could not understand why the nacelles were flat! LOLOLOLOLOL. That stated, it is one of my top two favored starship designs now. ;)

I suppose I should make that beastie a priority, eh?

BTW... I certainly hope that someone releases a 1/350 Reliant soon. ;)

I have always stated that I wish to have an entire starship line in 1/350 scale, and know of the possibility of that happening soon, but a Reliant would be a kewl starting point. ;) .... hint hint...nudge, nudge. LOLOLOLOLOLOL I understand there is another collector out there that desires that same as myself. ;) We are all the same after all, eh? ;)

Now I seem to think differently with the pieces here. Instead of flying the pieces around, I close one eye and do camera passes as if I were the camera, making sound effect all the while! LOLOLOLOL... how geeky is that?!!! LOLOLOLOL... but it certainly works! ;)

Rider, I love 'em! I always have a pain doing lightning....what's your secret?

I can't wait until Rel is done with the Enterprise-D. That'll be something else to see, let alone play with in PShop.

Loneknight, I apologize that I overlooked this question, and hope you do not think badly of me, I'm not the best of teachers, but just for you, here's a quick run through.

PaintShop Pro actually has a pretty cool Lightning filter built into it as a pre-set which is very handy.

If you have Photoshop, ideally it would be cool to have a tablet and just pen draw all the little jagged edges, but in this instance, it is with a mouse. So, first draw your lightning. Check out brushes, and find one that will help and enhance your drawing for this, (I just used a simple round one here). Best to draw white color against black layer so you can view what you are doing. Next, in your layer styles, add the outer glow of your color and preference of levels. Then, honestly, it is up to you from there, just play with everything and see what you prefer with all the different distortions and filters. In this example, I used the ripple effect.

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj172/rider4d/lightningrider.jpg

When you are happy, drop it into your model pic. The left is simply the example bolts dropped in, on the right, I just messed around with the lighting. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys, Catch you all later ;)

I have been looking at my photos in post one. Aside from the three in formation photo, I am just not happy with them. I am going to take them again and offer an additional zip file with the new photos. But should I replace the old ones in Post 1? Add them to post 1? Add them to a later 'reply' post in this thread? Or start a new thread?

LOLOLOL I can't decide. LOLOLOL...what do you guys think?

Anyway... I should have some new photos of this beastie to show in the next week or so. ;) I don't think I will ever be happy with my own photos! LOLOLOL.

Thomas E. Johnson
04-21-2008, 07:10 PM
I would say just add the new photos, don't take down the old ones. Reason being is the originals, even if you aren't happy with them, can still be great for playing in Photoshop, as reference material for painting and finishing, or just plain old inspiration. Here's an idea, maybe you could have some type of "Work in progress" and "Finished" section for your photos Kurt. Personally I'd love to see more about various techniques and ideas on how to better photograph models. If you have the time I'm sure I'm not the only one who would appreciate any insight you might could share on model photography. Just a thought, and thank you for posting all the blue screen photos! I enjoy looking at them very much, and wouldn't mind trying my hand at a few comps sometime!
